PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The seasons change is taking us from winter’s blustery cold to the showers that come and go in the spring. Snow season is about over and plans are underway for spring and summer projects in the many cities and towns across our section.

As a section, we continue to change through an increased numbers in our membership and by providing more opportunities for training and certification to our members. We now have a Training Committee that consists of section members and directed by Certification Chair John Hightower and 2nd vice President Colby Kost. As a result of their endeavors, there are more opportunities for acquiring those ever important T.A.R.P. points needed for recertification.  We are also pleased to announce “The Light Brigade’s ITS Traffic Services Fiber Optic Training Level’s I and II will be offered at our annual conference in March.

In July, the board attended the International IMSA Conference in Chandler, Az. There we met with members on the International level to discuss not only our section concerns but also the needs of the International organization as a whole. In addition, we were able to attend many top quality Technical Sessions to broaden our own knowledge and use it to potentially improve the jobs that we do through our own employers.

Thank you for your continued support of the organization, and as always, please feel free to voice your ideas and concerns to your board members, or through the forum of this newsletter and website. Send us a note, an article, or a job posting and our web master, John LaPlante will see it is posted to our web page.

Just a reminder National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 6-10, 2009.  Work safe, play safe, and drive safe!

Debbie Berry-Dickinson,

Central Section President
