Nor Rain, Nor Sleet, Nor Snow.....

This year's Annual IMSA/KAUTC Conference was a challenge in many ways....in Planning, Organizing, and Implementing.

However, a greater challenge on Wednesday February 6th was in Attending! As one of the few individuals that traveled that morning from Johnson County to Manhattan, I can attest to the rough driving conditions that faced us as we started out in the early morning darkness, illuminated only by our headlights and the blowing white snow. Those conditions prompted me to ease up off my normally heavy foot as I maneuvered along on WB I-70, often times where just a single path existed, seemingly carved out of the blowing snow by the slow moving line of semi trailers. The normal two hour drive extended to three hours as  many drivers pulled back the reigns after passing by semi's jack-knifed in the ditch or 4-wheel drives unable to forge through the unplowed snow. Itching for the opportunity to "get around' all those slow moving vehicles, I held back the desire, realizing it was better to be a little late for the Conference then to spend the morning in a ditch along I-70!

Being Safety Conscious often times means leaving our learned habits and glorified egos aside and just stepping back a bit.

Please keep Safety in mind as we continue through this Winter Season.

And thank you all for your participation in this years Conference and week of Training Opportunities! in Manhattan
